Safeguarding

NBC is committed to creating a positive working environment where all learners and staff are treated with dignity and respect and are free from any form of harassment, bullying and victimisation.

High standards of behaviour will promote an environment that enables each individual to achieve their full potential. All companies where apprentices are placed are carefully vetted with health and safety in mind and a workplace induction will take place and be recorded in the planner.

Only companies who satisfy NBC that they treat staff with respect are used to place apprentices. Companies will need to have policies in place relating to equality and diversity.

EQUAL – MEANS THAT EVERYONE IS VALUED EQUALLY AS INDIVIDUALS WITH EQUAL LEVELS OF RESPECT

DIVERSITY – MEANS THAT EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT AND THESE DIFFERENCES SHOULD BE EMBRACED AND CELEBRATED

All staff at NBC hold a enhanced DBS check and receive regular training in matters of safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity and Prevent.

The vulnerabilities of teenagers can be easily missed especially if the young person states they can look after themselves. Safeguarding champions at NBC can be approached by learners to discuss any concerns, these will be dealt with by our trained staff or the young person will be directed to the best organisation to provide specialised help and support.

All learners receive an Apprenticeship Journal at the outset of their training to record activities completed and reflect on the outcomes. This Journal contains useful information on safeguarding and healthy living and a list of useful telephone contacts.
